Perspective - as I talked to my maid

Image
In my phase of life currently I am surrounded by unpredictability and discomfort. Personally struggling with health and professionally struggling to find Stabler grounds. On a Friday evening as I was assessing the next steps which are actionable and probable problem solvers.  I called upon my maid Anita to do the household chores. Thank God I had her ! After finishing work I offered her favorite tea saunf tea to her and she couldn't refused. She sat down the floor and I in my plush sofa and we started sipping our tea together. She is one talkative chap - and on finding her  Bhabi( me )  in weekend mode - she started chirping happily about her life delving down  her memory lanes. She enthusiastically " Bhabi - I truly dedicate myself to work for my kids only. Do bachche Hain wahi Mera sab kuch hai. Pati bhi nahi rehta na mere sath "(I have two kids to take care of and my husband doesn't stay with me) I heard and said " Achcha ye toh...

Nanaji - To you with Love

Image
There are times in one's life where we are fortunate enough to meet a great personality who has an enduring impact on you. They become your inspiration and aspiration. After a Long time in my life I think I met a person like Nanaji(Akshays Nanji) who had everything I wanted to be. Perfect Human Being , Truthful , Smart, apolitical, Gentle, Kind . At the same time tolerant. This all with a so much willpower that one would get scared by the enormity of his character. He was someone who could never be affected by another person's wrong or foolish behavior.  A very very well travelled man , a business man, Allahabad University professor, tour manager for Jain pilgrimages, writer & publisher of children's' books, owner of Jain temple in a place close to Allahabad & what not. Everyone all at the same time. Some personal anecdotes with Nanaji - # On one of our temple visits we lost way . Only me and Nanji were travelling with a crude, ruthless cab driver....

Munnar - Tea Estates, Mist, Clouds - Stuff that dreams are made of !

Image
Each moment laden with Spoonful natural misty cool palpable air, homemade chocolates, unfathomable beauty of Tea Estates - is a summary of our 2nd day at Munnar. Well glided  meadows of tea valleys, look like cushions on which u can jump and slide and bounce and intake all that's good of this beautiful place. They are all around you infact thats what munnar is - a conglomerate of Tea Estates. Rajamalai was the highlight of the trip. This being our first stop we instantly fell in love with the place. One should reach here max at 9 AM to avoid the crowds and enjoy the beauty of the place. Nature here talks to you. Mists blowing all around, Fog shrouded sky,Pestering u to look outside. You must turn outward not inward - it says. Do not get sucked down the vortex that holds your mind and soul in shackles. You must look around breathe in and breathe out. For This is luxury. Not thinking about self but others. Nature persists u to be non selfish. Nature speaks as belo...

Kerala First view. Munnar Day 1 trip

We landed Cochin Airport at 9:30 AM from Delhi. From Cochin we fortunately got a direct bus operated by Kyros operator to MUnnar. Thus began the journey to Munnar. The bus ride was enjoyable with us looking through the beautiful houses that flanked both sides of the narrow road bus was plying on. Imagining how the natives here would be utilizing beautiful balconies to read books, sip a cup of fresh tea, eat home made snacks. The journey passes through meandering roads beuatiful which they are if you are nausea tolerant. We finally reached Munnar at 2:00 PM which meant we had half a day to relax and explore munnar on our own. We reached our stay whcih was an airbnb home and we got a rare opportunity to smell, eat, live, drink, bath like locals do. We have booked airbnb earlier also but this one was so remotely located amidst hills, tree tops, tea estates all around - me and akshay smiled at each other that we have definitely made a great choice. PICS -  View from Roo...

Book Review - "The Final Empire" By Brandon Sanderson

For me - This will be a special series. This is the second time I have read a fantasy after the harry potter collection. Its no doubt a dark story. The initial novel opens with depression where you feel sad on what is happening and slowly plot engulfs you - you reach a land of oppression where few good men are charting out the plan to fight the oppression & oppressor - The lord Ruler . These few good men lead by Kelsier want to make lives better for the skaa community(who  are enslaved by the noblemen) by usurping the Lord ruler and entire nobility. Kelsier, the crewleader is a wonderfully drawn character - he is etched with just the right details, dialogues and actions that reader exactly gets to know his mental model. He is the reckless leader who does opposite of what is expected of him. He stays true to his character till the end - and is the harbinger of turnarounds for the crew whenever they are low. Most of the strong scenes where you can feel the passion are w...

Sunday Sunset Amidst Monuments!

Image
There is something magical, mystical about monuments - they are silent yet they whisper to those who listen and tell you about their pasts.  What exactly might have happened centuries ago is only a guesswork. Inferential yet subjective.  So at times it seems achievable to a non historian like me. Its interesting to guess  "what might have happened here centuries ago".  This makes you stay and listen to them through their arches, scriptures, emblems, stonework. They ask you to stay & admire & listen !  An advantage of being in Delhi NCR is you can always  head on to any of these mystical places. And choose to give history, a long gone by era to come alive when given a chance.  Today we grabbed our opportunity & set out to explore Qutab Minar & nearby areas. The chosen mode of transport was metro for sheer comfort and reliability. We reached Qutab Minar metro station and through an auto landed at the monument ...

Sometimes you do things coz you have to !

Image
Have you ever had regrets in your life? The risks you overtook – which you could have easily escaped. Some decisions of your liking– which otherwise if not taken would have made life more smoother – perhaps not to your liking but could have been less atypical & would have helped you live a more comfortable days ahead! Alas - perhaps many of us think this way – sharing here what I feel. In the hindsight when I look back at many such decisions which I took to my liking – I find I have emerged a better person since each action opened up a new spectrum of life and in the end I have only grown wiser. The thrill of tasting success or failure resulting from the controls you had held your life in - is infact what it is to live.  What is it otherwise to live – when you couldn’t uncover the power of your actions – you couldn’t discover what is to breathe like a singular being ..  The guy you loved & married to, the job you passed out, the boss you rebell...
